Quan ho, also known as quan ho Bac Ninh, was founded in the northern about 13th century. The songs are performed as alternating verses between two women from one village who sing in harmony, and two men from another village who respond with similar melodies, but with different lyrics. The first line is always a “challenge” from the ladies, with a “response” then sung by the men. Once they are finished, the order is reversed, and the men will issue their own challenge phrase with a different melody and so on.

According to the tradition, only young people used to sing quan họ songs, as the major body of song texts centers on the subject of love and sentimental desire among young adults. Nowadays, elderly singers are quite enthusiastic about singing for guests.

There are 400-plus quan ho songs, all written hundreds of years ago. The songs address the joy of nature and the satisfaction of hard field work when the labour is shared or lightened by singing together.

Quan ho inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on September 30 this year.


 Day 1    Arrival in HA NOI (D)  
Arrive Noi Bai Airport, you will be welcomed by your tour guide and taken by private car to the luxuriously appointed Hotel. Afternoon tour to visit the the Literature Temple - the first university in Vietnam, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple and take 01-hour pedi cab ride to the Old French Quarters. Dinner at local restaurant.
Overnight in Ha Noi.
 Day 2    HANOI- BAC NINH (B, L, D)  
After having breakfast at hotel, visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Monday and Friday and the whole months of October-November), Ho Chi Minh’s Residence. In the afternoon, take a short drive to visit Bac Ninh - home of Quan Ho Folk songs that was acknowledged as World Intangible Cultural Heritage. You will have time to visit Do Temple that was built during the Le Dynasty and has been altered lots. And then soak yourself in the deep melody of traditional music show “Quan Ho” or called Quan Ho Folk Songs.
Dinner and overnight in Hanoi.
 Day 3    HANOI- TAM COC- BICH DONG (B, L, D)  
After breakfast, Visit the Dinh & Le dynasty temples in Hoa Lu, an ancient capital of Vietnam. And then take a short sampan ride tour to Tam Coc - Bich Dong which is considered as “Inland Halong Bay” and visit Bich Dong Pagoda. Back to Hanoi for dinner. Overnight in Hanoi.
 Day 4    HANOI- HALONG BAY (B, L, D)  
Breakfast at hotel. Check out. Transfer to Halong and boat excursion on HaLong Bay. Welcome you at Hòn Gai Tourist International Port and on board for check-in. Check in on BĂ i Thơ Deluxe junk, welcome drink and program introduction. The cruise starts the journey. Lunch served with local cuisines menu and enjoy the paramount view at Ha Long such as Kicking Dog Island, Fighting Chicken Island, Huong Peak, Thien Cung Cave, Dau Go Cave… (Just pass by and outside). Explore Cave of Surprise - one of the most famous caves on the Ha Long bay. Small boat takes you to Titop seaside: visiting islands, climb to Titop Mountain 200m in height to see the whole bay and swimming at Titop Seaside. Return to your cruise or relaxation or enjoy sunset on the bay. Dinner at the restaurant with organized menu. At night, free at your leisure like lying on deck or going to catch squid…
 Day 5    HA LONG BAY- HANOI (B, L, D)  
See sunrise on the Bay or swim on the beach. Continue cruising. Enjoy breakfast with cakes & coffee… Visit Luồn Cave by boat or Kayak. Check out time. Enjoy Brunch on the way back to port. Arrive the port and end of the journey. Departure to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi, hotel check in and then take a rest. Then enjoy the water puppet show - a unique and famous traditional performance.
Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in Hanoi.
 Day 6    HA NOI Departure (B, L.)  
This morning you will visit Bat Trang Ceremic Village, a small village in the north of Vietnam, is about 13 kilometers south east of Hanoi center. Visiting here you can admire famous ceramic and pottery products of high quality which are exported worldwide or you yourself can try to make some souvenirs for friends. Back to Hanoi for lunch. . In the afternoon, visit Duong Lam Ancient Village – that has a history of about 1,200 years with many houses dating back up to 400 years. One special thing about the village is that most of the buildings here are made of laterite and mud, two materials that are abundant in the area. Free at leisure until time transfer to Noi Bai Airport for flight back home. End of services.
